Once you get back to the real world, what can you do to defeat those Disney Blues? Do what we do: leverage every memory and moment in the coming days, weeks and months to reminisce on the magic until you can get back! Here are a few ways to recapture the magic once you are back home and reentering reality.

The Disney Blues are a real deal. You invest an incredible amount of time, energy and effort planning, preparing and pontificating on what it will be like once you step inside the magical “Disney Bubble.” The time on property and inside the theme parks is all you hoped and dreamed it would be. You look around throughout the trip and see the smiles are on every face. The family has reconnected just as you had hoped. The perfect memories were made. All the effort was worth it!

Now it’s time to say good-bye as those words from the Mickey Mouse Club are ringing in your Mouseketeer Ears: See You Real Soon! And the pain you experience now is equal to the joy you experienced then. Those Disney Blues are raining on your perfect parade that you just experienced on your Disney Vacation.

Once you get back to the real world, what can you do to defeat those Disney Blues? Do what we do: leverage every memory and moment in the coming days, weeks and months to reminisce on the magic until you can get back! Here are a few ways to recapture the magic once you are back home and reentering reality.

  1. Declare a Disney night with your family. Put it on the calendar and plan to eat something that reminds you of a favorite meal while on your trip. If it was the pizza you had at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano while in Hollywood Studios, then eat pizza. If it was the sweet and sour chicken you enjoyed at Nine Dragons Restaurant in China while in Epcot’s World Showcase, then order Chinese take out and eat with chopsticks! After dinner plan to go through your pictures and videos from your trip and let the smiles in the frames find their way back to your family’s faces.
  2. Make a date to the theater. Disney has several new movies set for release over the next several years. There’s something special about seeing a new release inside a theater. Most of the time Disney will have previews to upcoming movies that can stir the emotions for future theater outings. Be sure and get a big tub of popcorn, just like you did the last time you were on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom!
  3. Get your Disney playlist on in the house, in the car and on the go. Spotify and Pandora have some great Disney themed playlists. There is something about those Disney tunes that can take you back inside the magic with just a few notes. You’ll be “whistling while you work” and remembering that “you’ve got a friend in me” in no time.
  4. Let Disney Parks Live Stream events put you back inside the theme parks. Disney does a great job of helping its fans to feel a part of the various fireworks shows, parades and special events throughout the year. If you happen to miss the live stream, know that YouTube is a great resource for reviewing all the magic that gets captured on video. It’s a great way to see what’s new and remember what made your vacation the “happily ever after” event your family enjoyed together.

Start a new countdown. There’s no time like the present to plan a new trip.
